Description:
Riparian and littoral water rights are synonymous with real estate in California. Our state motto could easily be restated as “Where there is water, there is value.” Beginning with redirection of creeks and streams to promising placer gold claim, have clubbed together to redirect and claim water for economic purposes. Water companies for mining soon evolved into irrigation districts for crop production in the early 1900s. Dry farming of grains was soon eclipsed as water is transported to untouched but now highly productive areas of the Southern San Joaquin valley thanks to the introduction of water. Thanks to heavy support and the financial backing of the State of California, water resources become relatively constant and predictable. Tributary dams feeding the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers end the cycle of flood and drought. Redirection of river water via Clifton Court and pumps direct water in open canals throughout southern California. Join us as we anticipate the next step in California’s water wars.
