#: 100    ID: PSMUD    Section: 01
product
Description:
This is a “Road Trip” course involving personal vehicles and carpooling. Students and instructor leave the LMC Brentwood Center at 8:00 am on the last Saturday of the month with a Delta historical destination in mind. Historical narrative or context provided by the instructor enroute to destination via cell, speaker phone, conference call.

The 3-hour class ends with either a “brown bag” picnic lunch or historic restaurant lunch at or near a historic landmark or park. Proof of automobile insurance required. “Release and Agreement to Hold Harmless” to be completed by each participant.

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (“SMUD”) developed and maintains the Solano Wind Park located in the Montezuma Hills just north of  Collinsville. Two sites, Solano 4 West and Solano 4 East provide renewable electric energy. An output of 303 MW from the project is delivered to the electric grid through the existing Russel Substation in Solano County. Construction continues with replacement of older turbines with newer, but fewer, turbines boosting the wind park’s output. Our tour will involve a discussion of contemporary turbine design and output. We picnic and visit at the Western Train Museum located nearby on State Highway 12.
