Eastern and Antioch Electric Railway: Oakland Mole to Chico.
#: SP24    ID: EAE    Section: 01
product
Description:
Electric railways were as popular as traditional railways in the early 20th Century often running in tandem to the same stations. One could board a Key System car in San Francisco, traverse the Bay over the new Oakland San Francisco Bay Bridge to Oakland and continue on to Antioch. Ferries shuttled the electric cars to Solano County where they continued north to Sacramento and on to Chico! All accomplished economically with the use of a transfer ticket. The Eastern and Antioch Electric Railway served the Oakland, Moraga, Walnut Creek, Concord, Pittsburg and Antioch line. Today, BART attempts to replicate and often travels along these original railway right of ways. Join us as we take a ride on the Eastern and Antioch Electric Railway!
